comme une catastrophe &#8211; n&rsquo;arrive jamais seul : souvent, il y en a plusieurs dans une m\u00eame journ\u00e9e, qui correspondent \u00e0 des cours diff\u00e9rents et qu&rsquo;il faut remettre \u00e0 des dates diverses (flexibilit\u00e9).\u00a0 Cela suppose \u00e9galement de pouvoir \u00e9tablir des priorit\u00e9s : quel devoir rendre demain, le jour suivant, etc.\u00a0 Lequel me demandera le plus de temps.\u00a0 Par lequel commencer ?\u00a0 Il faut donc \u00eatre multit\u00e2ches et pouvoir jongler avec l&rsquo;ensemble des devoirs et le\u00e7ons \u00e0 remettre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Il faut pouvoir se souvenir d&rsquo;un ensemble important de choses (m\u00e9moire) et \u00eatre capable de demander des pr\u00e9cisions ou des informations compl\u00e9mentaires pour pouvoir s&rsquo;adapter \u00e0 se qui est demand\u00e9\u00a0 (emploi du feedback).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Et tout cela doit \u00eatre g\u00e9r\u00e9 dans le temps en tenant compte des ressources disponibles.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>Des aires qui \u00e9voluent s\u00e9par\u00e9ment et \u00e0 des moments diff\u00e9rents<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Une coordination efficace des aires c\u00e9r\u00e9brales qui accomplissent toutes ces fonctions suppose une maturation compl\u00e8te du cerveau et en particulier du cortex frontal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Or, chez les adolescents, certaines de ces aires sont encore en construction.\u00a0 Si la plupart des fonctions de r\u00e9solution de probl\u00e8me se mettent en place entre 5 et 12 ans, les fonctions les plus complexes, n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la planification, se construisent entre 15 et 25 ans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Dans ce cas, demander \u00e0 un adolescent de 14 ans de g\u00e9rer son argent de poche n&rsquo;a pas beaucoup de sens : s&rsquo;il sait d\u00e9j\u00e0 compter depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, son cortex frontal n&rsquo;est pas assez d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 pour assurer les t\u00e2ches de gestion, planification, respect des r\u00e8gles, etc. que cela suppose&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>La m\u00e9moire de travail<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Une des d\u00e9couvertes les plus r\u00e9centes des neurosciences est l&rsquo;importance de la\u00a0 m\u00e9moire de travail.\u00a0 Celle-ci est beaucoup plus efficace chez les adultes que chez les enfants : les adultes peuvent se souvenir d&rsquo;un nombre plus important d&rsquo;objets pendant un temps plus long.\u00a0 Mais ce qui fait surtout la diff\u00e9rence, c&rsquo;est le nombre et la complexit\u00e9 des manipulations qu&rsquo;un adulte peut accomplir en utilisant sa m\u00e9moire de travail, comparativement \u00e0 un enfant ou \u00e0 un adolescent.\u00a0\u00a0 Or, dans la planification, nous sommes amen\u00e9s \u00e0 effectuer des op\u00e9rations complexes en utilisant notre m\u00e9moire de travail.\u00a0 Et chez les adolescents, les diff\u00e9rentes aires qui travaillent ensemble \u00e0 ces op\u00e9rations complexes ne communiquent pas bien ensemble.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Un exemple tout simple : on demande \u00e0 des enfants, des ados et des adultes de retenir une s\u00e9quence de lettres pendant quinze secondes : A &#8211; D &#8211; C &#8211; E.\u00a0 Tout le monde y parvient sans peine.\u00a0 Si on leur demande de r\u00e9citer la suite \u00e0 l&rsquo;envers, les ados et les enfants ont beaucoup plus de mal.\u00a0 Et si on leur demande de les reciter dans l&rsquo;ordre alphab\u00e9tique, seuls les adultes s&rsquo;en sortent bien.\u00a0 Parce que la communication entre les aires du cerveau concern\u00e9es est meilleure chez les adultes.\u00a0 Elle n&rsquo;existe pas encore chez les enfants et elle se construit chez les ados.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">C&rsquo;est \u00e9galement le cas du cortex frontal lat\u00e9ral, responsable de l&rsquo;<em><strong>emploi du feedback<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Or, ce feedback ne sert pas uniquement \u00e0 demander des pr\u00e9cisions par rapport \u00e0 un devoir.\u00a0 C&rsquo;est l&rsquo;\u00e9talon personnel qui nous permet de<em><strong> mesurer o\u00f9 nous en sommes et donc d&rsquo;\u00e9voluer<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Cette aire du cerveau est l&rsquo;une des derni\u00e8res \u00e0 se construire.\u00a0 Cela explique aussi pourquoi <em><strong>les adolescents ont du mal \u00e0 changer leur fa\u00e7on d&rsquo;agir, \u00e0 tenir compte des changements dans leur environnement et de r\u00e9agir \u00e0 temps.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 Notamment \u00e0 une baisse des notes sur le bulletin.\u00a0 Ou \u00e0 un avertissement du professeur.\u00a0 C&rsquo;est aussi une des raisons pour lesquelles <em><strong>les ados changent difficilement leur fa\u00e7on d&rsquo;\u00e9tudier<\/strong><\/em>, m\u00eame si celle-ci ne leur r\u00e9ussit pas&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>Les le\u00e7ons du Jacques a dit<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Vous vous souvenez du jeu \u00ab\u00a0Jacques a dit\u00a0\u00bb de votre enfance ?\u00a0 Vous devez respecter la consigne uniquement si elle s&rsquo;accompagne de l&rsquo;expression \u00ab\u00a0Jacques a dit\u00a0\u00bb.\u00a0 Sinon, vous devez rester immobile.\u00a0 Les adultes s&rsquo;en tirent mieux que les enfants.\u00a0 Les enfants de moins d&rsquo;un an en sont pratiquement incapables.\u00a0 Entre un an et 8 an, cela reste difficile.\u00a0 Les chercheurs ont d\u00e9couvert qu&rsquo;entre 8 et 12 ans, les enfants utilisent l&rsquo;aire dorsale du cortex frontal pour mener cette op\u00e9ration \u00e0 bien.\u00a0 Entre 12 et 18 ans, le cerveau se r\u00e9organise et les adolescents utilisent d\u00e9sormais l&rsquo;aire ventrale lat\u00e9rale du cortex frontal.\u00a0 Mais pendant cette r\u00e9organisation, la communication entre les diff\u00e9rentes aires est plus laborieuse que chez les adultes.\u00a0 Il faut donc attendre 25 ans pour que le jeune arr\u00eate au feu orange.\u00a0 Ou qu&rsquo;il puisse se concentrer dans un environnement bruyant.\u00a0 Ou qu&rsquo;il ne sur-r\u00e9agisse pas \u00e0 certaines remarques d\u00e9sobligeantes de ses copains.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>Interf\u00e9rences versus multit\u00e2ches<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">John Ridley-Stroop a mis au point un test que bon nombre d&rsquo;entre vous ont certainement d\u00e9j\u00e0 essay\u00e9 : celui de dire \u00e0 voix haute le nom d&rsquo;une couleur alors que celui-ci est \u00e9crit dans une autre couleur.\u00a0 Par exemple, lire le mot jaune \u00e9crit en vert.\u00a0 Comme sur l&rsquo;image ci-dessous. adolescents, une fois de plus, ont de la peine \u00e0 dire le bon mot.\u00a0 Ils sont victimes de ce que les neurosciences appellent des interf\u00e9rences.\u00a0 Le c\u00f4t\u00e9 gauche du cortex frontal, qui permet de g\u00e9rer cette dissonance entre deux informations, n&rsquo;est pas m\u00fbr avant 18 ans au moins.\u00a0\u00a0 C&rsquo;est malheureusement aussi le si\u00e8ge qui nous permet d&rsquo;\u00eatre multit\u00e2ches.\u00a0 Alors que les ados adorent \u00e9tudier tout en \u00e9coutant leur MP3 et en regardant l&rsquo;\u00e9volution d&rsquo;un jeu sur Internet, leur cerveau est moins pr\u00e9par\u00e9 que celui de leurs a\u00een\u00e9s \u00e0 la gestion de plusieurs t\u00e2ches \u00e0 la fois.\u00a0\u00a0 Mais allez les convaincre d&rsquo;\u00e9teindre la radio ou la t\u00e9l\u00e9 pendant qu&rsquo;ils r\u00e9visent les maths ou l&rsquo;anglais !<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"color:#333399;\"><strong>Le jeune cerveau pour l&rsquo;anglais et le vieux pour les maths ?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Le cerveau de l&rsquo;enfant est plus adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;apprentissage des langues.\u00a0 C&rsquo;est pourquoi les enfants multilingues peuvent passer d&rsquo;une langue \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre, parfois au milieu d&rsquo;une m\u00eame phrase, en variant les accents comme par jeu.\u00a0 Il y a une \u00ab\u00a0fen\u00eatre\u00a0\u00bb d&rsquo;apprentissage des langues.\u00a0 Entre un et deux ans, les enfants connaissent ce que les sp\u00e9cialistes appellent \u00ab\u00a0vocabulary burst\u00a0\u00bb, une explosion du vocabulaire.\u00a0 A trois ans, un enfant est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement capable de construire des phrases grammaticalement correctes.\u00a0 Et jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 8 ou 10 ans, il est capable d&rsquo;apprendre n&rsquo;importe quelle langue \u00e9trang\u00e8re avec l&rsquo;accent juste.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Les sp\u00e9cialistes pensent que le d\u00e9veloppement intense de la mati\u00e8re grise jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 cet \u00e2ge est \u00e9galement responsable de cette acquisition facile du langage.\u00a0\u00a0 Mais apr\u00e8s les choses se compliquent.\u00a0 Et si l&rsquo;apprentissage des langues est possible tout au long de la vie, il n\u00e9cessite plus de temps et d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie.\u00a0 C&rsquo;est le moment d&rsquo;utiliser des m\u00e9thodes dynamiques et efficaces&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Par contre, les neurosciences d\u00e9montrent que les enfants utilisent surtout leur cortex frontal et leur m\u00e9moire de travail pour effectuer des op\u00e9rations math\u00e9matiques simples : autrement dit, ils utilisent \u00e9norm\u00e9ment de ressources mentales.\u00a0 Alors que les adultes qui ont pratiqu\u00e9 les math\u00e9matiques r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement depuis des ann\u00e9es effectuent ces m\u00eames op\u00e9rations avec leur cortext pari\u00e9tal.\u00a0 Ces op\u00e9rations sont devenues
