The New Pact on Migration and Asylum - Genially infographic based on a four-piece puzzle representing the four pillars of the new European legal framework

Are you familiar with the New Pact on Migration and Asylum? – Infographic

The European Union is preparing a new Pact on Migration and Asylum. I have summarised it for you in an interactive Genially infographic that you can reuse for your lessons, training courses or websites.

I train secondary school teachers from all over Europe as part of the Erasmus Mobility programme. One of the courses I teach is on European citizenship. Among the topics we study together is Europe and migration.

So I couldn't ignore the new Pact on Migration and Asylum, the new European legal framework, which has been in preparation since 2020, legalised since 2024 and will be applicable throughout the European Union from 2026. You can consult the original text of this Pact on this official page.

I offer you a more digestible version in the form of interactive infographics Genially.

An interactive infographic to better understand the New Pact on Migration and Asylum

If you have been following this blog for some time, you know how much I enjoy interactive infographics, especially those I can create with Genially. You can find a series of ready-to-use infographics here on our dedicated page.

I was able to write this summary quickly thanks to a course I took on Future Learn: the MOOC. The EU in Changing Times, offered by the University of Dublin. A one-week online course.

This pact is far from unanimous, and when you read the content of this infographic, you will understand why. In each window that you can open by clicking on the ‘+ info’ button at the bottom of the infographic, I have used a ‘Danger’ icon to highlight the risks inherent in this new legal framework, which is much more restrictive and coercive than the previous asylum and migration system of the European Union.

In future articles, I will provide you with other free resources that I am preparing for my European citizenship course.
