Dialog cards

Dialogue cards, like flashcards, are tools for revising concepts that need to be memorised:

  • foreign vocabulary
  • technical or medical vocabulary
  • etc.

These dialogue cards allow you to insert not only text, but also images and sound. These are three ways of "coding" the word to be memorised.

English political vocabulary

I didn't catch many different words, but I associated them every time with:

  • a text
  • an image
  • a clue
  • an audio file for pronunciation

Find out more about how these dialogue cards work, read our article.

Clickable image: the hotel room

Clickable images are a great way to expand your vocabulary. I created this one for training in French for people on hospitality courses. I've adapted it and added it to our free resources in English. Just click on the "+" buttons to see the name of the object and a short description in English.

Genially games

Speak Up! Snakes and Ladders game in English

Speak Up was a French magazine that offered monthly articles, novel excerpts, and exercises to learn English while having fun. The magazine no longer exists, but I would like to pay tribute to it by offering you this board game, adapted from the one that I had created for my FLE courses (French as a foreign language).

The idea is quite simple: add a fun and friendly dimension to an oral expression exercise. Students are often afraid to express themselves. By playing, they forget their shyness and express themselves more easily.

Click on the dice to start the game. Move the pieces to the different squares. Simply place the mouse pointer on the square to bring up an image and the question:

  • What is your favourite animal?
  • What is the first thing you do in the morning ?
  • Your lucky number?
  • etc.

The winner has the right to click on the Arrival button. This opens a window with a video.. C’est the lion of the British Crown. He congratulates the winner by performing a little celebratory dance. I created this little animated video using artificial intelligence from Canva for Work. But you can do the same. with Canva for Education, if you are a teacher.

The difficulty of the questions corresponds to levels A2-B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The game is published under Creative Commons licence Attribution-ShareAlike. You will find the reusable model here.
