CourseNetworking has chosen us as its ambassadors for Europe. CourseNetworking is a solution developed by Indiana University CyberLab. Our partner for MOOC Dys, DIMPA and Catapult. CourseNetworking is not just another university LMS or training centre LMS. Read on to find out more.

CourseNetworking Solutions
CourseNetworking is not an LMS for a traditional training organisation: it is a modular platform
that adapts to the needs of your end users.
CourseNetworking, much more than an LMS for traditional training organisations
You've already guessed it: Course Networking or The CN, is much more than a traditional LMS.
This solution brings together various modules that you can buy all at once, all together or one by one, depending on your needs.
Let's take a look at these modules.
The Post or CN's social learning network

The Post or Social Learning Network CourseNetworking is presented as a Facebook or LinkedIn news feed.
On the left, a menu lists the courses available to the student. On the right, the news feed itself.
In this news feed, you can see a ticket (written by another participant. I have attributed to him three starsvisible below the post. And I'm in the process of write a commentary to which I have chosen to add the thumbs-up emoji.
I comment on it in English. But I'm not, I could have done it in French. These exchange functions are essential for building a learning community. And to encourage the introduction of collective intelligence.
An integrated translation engine
Commenting on it in French? It doesn't make much sense, since the post is in English!
Well, it is! Because the comments on this platform include an integrated translation engine.
This is what has enabled the participants in our multilingual MOOCs to talk to each other.
Take a look at this GIF image: it shows you how clicking on the "Translate" link gives me a French translation of this comment in English. I can reply in French. My contact will be able to answer me in his own language.

The added value of this social learning network compared with an LMS for a traditional training organisation: the number and quality of exchanges between participants in our MOOCs and other online or hybrid training courses.

The CN ePortfolio: a highly evolved personal page
More and more universities, schools and other academic and training institutions are recognising the benefits of ePortfolio. It is a feature that should be part of any good LMS for training organisations or any academic institution.
This personal page, available to all students, allows them to :
- From storing documents he needs for his studies
- to display its proof of skills and academic achievements
- to demonstrate its professional experience
- to carry out certain tasks proposed by teachers
- display badges won on the CN platform or from other academic institutions or training centres
- to publish recommendations teachers, placement supervisors, fellow students
- of create a CV in various formats (PDF, online)
- precise monitoring employment procedures
We also presented this CN ePortfolio in a webinar which you can watch the recording on this dedicated page.
Integrating your ePortfolio into your LMS
You can integrate this ePortfolio into your current LMS using a simple LTI key.
Not only will your ePortfolio be perfectly integrated into your system, but :
- it will be totally transparent for your users: they will have the impression that they are still in your e-learning system;
- they will not need to create a new account to access their CN ePortfolio;
- You can see the usage statistics for these ePortfolios in your usual statistics;
- your learners will be able to keep this personal page throughout their lives.
The Pathway: creating Microlearning pathways with Zoom and CN

Today, CourseNetworking is taking a new step by offering a new product: a course design method based on :
- short sequences
- highly targeted: one sequence = one educational objective
- making extensive use of multimedia for teaching aids
- which allows participants to exchange ideas with the trainer and the other participants, and also allows participants to co-create part of their own course, which helps to make the course more enjoyable. better online presence
- which is gamified (see below)
- which incorporates Zoom virtual classes
- 100 % consultable on smartphone
- whose distribution is controlled by designers and trainers
- In other words: CN suggests Microlearning!
Gamification in CourseNetworking
Would you like to use gamification in your training courses?
What does CourseNetworking gamification involve?
The good news is that all three CourseNetworking modules include gamification! So whether you choose the full version, the Post, the ePortfolio or the Pathway, you have a gamified solution.
This Gamification toolbox includes :
- a points system Anar seeds (anar being the Persian name for the pomegranate, a fruit symbolising prosperity)
- the accumulation of these points enables you to certain levels silver, gold and diamond.
- is the platform administrator who decides the allocation of points and the number awarded for each activity :
- writing a ticket
- comment on a post
- like d'un billet (from one to three stars)
- Connect to a course
- taking a test or quiz
- etc.
- open badges CN offers badges, but the platform administrator can also create new ones to encourage certain behaviours. Some badges are distributed automatically by the system, while others can be allocated by the course leaders.
- Gamification is also a tool for monitoring for trainers.

CourseNetworking and integration
You've got it: the three CourseNetworking modules can be integrated into your LMS. But there's more.
Different ways of integrating NC
The LTI standard
The LTI standard (Learning Tools Interoperability) allows you to integrate each of the CourseNetworking modules into your existing LMS for training organisations:
The LTI standard also allows you to integrate external tools into CourseNetworking :
- Moodle
- Blackboard
- Canvas
- Sakai
- Schoology
- And so on.
- Mindomo: mind map software
- Zoom: the videoconferencing platform
- Padlet: online collaborative tables (we integrated it into CN during our DIMPA MOOC)
- Microsoft Sway: the online presentation tool
- H5P: the paid version of this trainer lets you integrate quizzes, interactive videos and other media into your CN platform.
The SCORM standard in CN
The QTI standard in CN
The SCORM standard (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) allows you to import files from other platforms such as Moodle.
These files will look exactly the same whatever LMS they come from. This is a fairly old standard, although it is still widely used.
The QTI standard is a quiz standard.
In particular, it allows you to import question banks created on other LMSs for training organisations. You can then re-use these questions in your quizzes, which will save you a lot of time.
